I think everyone deserves to look better and to look good. Strange beauty? There are a lot of ugly things in the world. Ugly is not in my vocabulary. Beauty is an industry that favors the youth. What are your thoughts on age and beauty? I like older people. I love grandmothers. There are so many [older] beauties. When you look at a color, what makes it a NARS color to you? I love color, but I have moments when I hate colors and like to draw makeup in black and white, like black eyeliner or black smoky eye.

I always try to find interesting colors because I think a makeup line should have both these sides — tons of colors and neutrals. I am against lines of makeup that only use neutrals or makeup colors. I always compare makeup stores to jewelry stores. If you go to Harry Winston, you want to see many different kinds of stones, and not just one color.

I try to find really interesting colors always. I can personally attest to its popularity in South Korea because I've spotted it in the kits of several K-pop stars' makeup artists. Even people who know nothing about makeup are aware it's good shit. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer was the first one my little sister ever bought herself, and my friends who tend not to wear any makeup swear by it.

On a more serious note, "It achieves everything you want from a concealer," he adds. There's no mystery. When a product works, it works. Six years after its launch, Nars wishes the Radiant Creamy Concealer was called something other than concealer. It's a "horrible word," he says, that misconstrues the product. Concealers are usually heavy duty and cakey. They don't let skin glow and they settle into fine lines. The Radiant Creamy Concealer, on the other hand, disappears on skin.

Concealer is also a boring word that probably shouldn't apply to makeup, according to Nars. Starting August 1, you'll be able to shop them on narscosmetics.
