Royal jelly is generally not recommended during pregnancy or in children due to the lack of research about its effects on unborn babies, breast milk, or young children.

Because royal jelly is not approved by the FDA for any conditions, there is no official dose. Users and supplement manufacturers have established unofficial doses based on trial and error. Since royal jelly also has similar allergy-reducing effects, the two could be combined to achieve a stronger and wider effect [ 54 ]. Like royal jelly, propolis is used to boost immunity.

Propolis contains wax, pollen, resin, essential oils, minerals, and B-type vitamins. It has diverse claimed health benefits — from fighting microbes to boosting immunity or improving oral health [ 7 ].
